Aquamarine celebrates the color blue in all its glory. One of the most popular and best-known gemstones, aquamarine has the distinction of being the birthstone for March. Taking its name from Latin, meaning "water of the sea," aquamarine has long been associated with the water and is said to have a soothing, calming and even healing effect on its wearer, much like a gentle ocean. Sailors used to carry aquamarine with them on their journeys, believing that it helped to ward off seasickness. |
